Orff - Carmina Burana

Saturday 17th March 2018, 7.30pm

Stratford upon Avon Choral Society

On Saturday 17 March, in the Levi Fox Hall of King Edward VI School, Stratford Choral Society are performing two great works of 20th century music. Francis Poulenc’s Gloria for Soprano, Chorus and Orchestra is one of the best-known pieces from this French composer whose work is always melodic and accessible. The other work in this concert is the popular and exciting Carmina Burana by German composer Carl Orff. The opening chorus of the piece will be familiar to many since it has been used widely in film soundtracks and television adverts.

The Chorus will be joined by soloists Rachel Godsill, Greg Tassell and Samuel Oram, the Junior Choristers from Holy Trinity Church and The Regency Sinfonia.
