Dvorak’s Stabat Mater

with

Louise Wayman (Soprano)
Harriet Goodwin (Alto)
Daniel Joy (Tenor)
Edward Seymour (Bass)

The Beauchamp Sinfonietta

Conductor Stephen Dodsworth

Dvorak’s Stabat Mater was written in 1877, in reaction to the most tragic circumstances of his life. His daughters, Josefa and Ruzena and his son, Otakar, all died during this year. Despite these tragic events the Stabat Mater contains some of Dvorak’s most beautiful music and remains one of the greatest settings of this ancient text.
This is our last concert of the 2016-17 Season and is dedicated to the memory of Olive Locke who died recently and who, for many years was part of the Chorus continued to be one of its greatest supporters.
