Simon Spillett

To celebrate the music of Tubby Hayes, multi-award-winning tenor saxophonist Simon Spillett has assembled a unique band of "young bloods", giving their own slant on the Hayes legacy.

Pianist David Ferris, bassist Stuart Barker and drummer Billy Weir are all recognised as being among the brightest new jazz names on the UK circuit - as was proved when the band performed a sell-out show at Ronnie Scott's in October 2016.

Among the music this gig will feature are compositions and arrangements from albums such as The Jazz Couriers In Concert, Tubbs in New York, Late Spot at Scott's and Mexican Green, along with standards and ballads associated with Tubby.

Everything is tied together by the leaders dryly witty, Hayes anecdote-packed introductions.
